Honey-Citrus Glazed Cod

The original recipe from Southern Food called for salmon instead of cod.  It was my intention to use salmon.  Alas, I am cheap, and salmon is not.

Using salmon would have been the tastier option, but cod worked.  Cod must not be a desirable fish, because it was less than half the price of salmon.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate Oatmeal

A couple of years ago I visited my brother and sister in-law in Illinois.  While I was there, we ate chocolate oatmeal made with hot chocolate.  It was ingenious.

This version is similar to what I ate two years ago, but I added half a candy cane to make it peppermint flavored.

Chocolate Mint Cookies

Merry Christmas!  It is my favorite time of the year.

I am at home with my family, and it has been wonderful.  We have decorate the tree, made cookies, and wrapped presents.

Tomato Soup with Cheese Tortellini

I did something pretty incredible last friday.  I left work early to take a plane home for Christmas.  I arrived at the airport with plenty of time.  When I arrived, I looked at my ticket to see which terminal I was leaving from.

I looked at the ticket and realized I was at the wrong airport.  Who does that?  I ran outside and found a taxi.  This was around 3:30 on friday afternoon.

Brownies with Mint Icing

Brownies could be my favorite baked good.  They are so rich and tantalizing, but incredible simple too.  Sometimes the best things in life don't take hard work.

These are homemade, but I don't turn my nose up to a under baked brownie from a box.  I usually avoid semi-homemade things that come from boxes, but brownies are the exception.

Eggnog Oatmeal

Oatmeal is one of the least attractive things to take pictures of.  It's hard to make a big bowl of oatmeal look tantalizing and seductive.  It's too mushy and monotone.

Despite the fact it will never make the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, it is one of my favorite breakfasts.  My favorite way to eat oatmeal is with heaping spoons of brown sugar and slices of banana.

Gingerbread Muffins with Oatmeal Cookie Streusel and Chocolate Chips

Do you ever second guess yourself?  I do it all the time.  This weekend I went Christmas shopping, and after every purchase, I debated if I made the right choice.

It doesn't matter if the decision is insignificant.  Deciding what type of hair gel or what to order at a restaurant is a tough decision for me.

Eggnog Pancakes

Phew! What a day! I didn't work today.  Instead, I did hours and hours of Christmas shopping at a ginormous mall.  I didn't have many gifts to buy, but I'm indecisive.

I had no idea what I was going to get my mother.  I found two gifts for her that I'm really proud of.  I thought I would find her a random and colorful kitchen gadget, but the gifts I found are more thoughtful.

Chocolate and Toffee Stuffed Ginger Cookies

A concert hall close to where I live, the Kennedy Center, offers free performances every weekday at six.  I have only gone to a few, but they have all been excellent.  This summer I went to a South Korean pop concert.

Tonight I went to a concert entitled, A Very Tuba Christmas.  It was fantastic.  With such a phenomenal name, how could it not be wonderful?

Cookies and Cream Bundt Cake

The holiday season is in full swing!  Are you ready?  I have a couple more gifts to think about.

That sentence sounds like I have my life put together, but I only purchase a few presents.  I make lots of food gifts for friends and coworkers.  I don't buy all of my siblings gifts because we draw names.  Given that and the fact that I don't have any children, I only have a few people I buy gifts for.

Gingerbread Pancakes

This is my first Christmas recipe of the season.  Christmas recipes include any type of cookie, foods with the gingerbread or eggnog, and party foods eaten with your hands.

Yesterday I decorated sugar cookies and drank hot cocoa in an apartment decorated with red and green stockings.  I also purchased some gifts on Amazon.  The Christmas season has started!

German Chocolate Muffin

I have an insane and possibly impossible goal of losing weight over the holiday season.  Like most Americans, I usually gain weight over Christmas.

It would be more reasonable to try and maintain my weight this month, but there is a reason to my madness.

Roasted Asparagus and Brussels Sprouts in Orange Vinaigrette

Today I started listening to Christmas music.  It wasn't the first time this season, but it was the first time I listened for a solid hour.

I needed Christmas music today.  Today was first time I went to work after a four day weekend.  It was rough.  If I had chocolate, I would have eaten it without restraint.
