Chocolate Cherry Pancakes

I am going to post another pancake recipe.  I just can't help myself.  It's an obsession.

This is the second cherry and chocolate recipe I have posted recently as well.   I recently posted a double chocolate cherry cookie recipe.  It was a pretty amazing cookie recipe.

Red Velvet Pancakes

The pancake obsession continues!  These pancakes are a little different than any other pancake I have made.  They are red.

I don't remember red velvet cakes growing up.  I only became aware of red velvet cakes about seven years ago.  I have never actually made a red velvet cake myself.  These red velvet pancakes are the closest I have ever gotten.

Flourless Chocolate Cake

This will be my only Valentine's Day themed food post this year.  I rarely make special foods for holidays.  It's even rare that post a recipe for large holidays like Thanksgiving.  I don't prepare my own holiday meals, and I'm usually too lazy to plan ahead and make it just for my blog.

According to wikipedia, flourless chocolate cakes are made from "an aerated chocolate custard."  They are cooked at low temperatures in a bain-marie.

Vanilla Cake with Caramel Frosting and Chocolates

Today is Ground Hog's Day.  I learned more than I need to know about Ground Hog's Day last Saturday when I went with some friends to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

I am from a small town in the middle of nowhere, and I recognize and appreciate other remote towns.  We drove almost four hours to get there.  I heard the population is about 7,000.

Chocolate Fondue

Fondue is traditionally melted cheese eaten communally with long tongs.  In the 1930s it was promoted by the Swiss Cheese Union as the national dish of Switzerland.  It became popular in America in the 1960s.

In the 1980 fondue was promoted in Switzerland with phrases such as "fondue is good and creates a good mood."  With such a catchy phrase, I think it makes the perfect Valentine's Day dessert, no?

Valentine's Day Sugar Cookies

Valentine's day or the Feast of Saint Valentine is just around the corner.  As I am single, Valentine's Day isn't a huge holiday for me, but it's fun to think of holiday themed food.

Valentinus was an early, Roman Christian imprisoned for performing marriages for soldiers and ministering to other Christians.  While imprisoned he healed one of his jailer's daughters.  It became a romantic holiday during the middle ages.
