Tunnel of Fudge Cake

Yesterday was a such a beautiful day.  It was warm and breezy.  I went with some friends to a botanical garden in a neighboring city.  It was a perfect day for such a trip.

The orchids and azaleas were in bloom.  Orchids are my favorite flower.  The roses bushes were still naked.  I think they must bloom later on in the season.

Swig Sugar Cookies

I heard about these sugar cookies from my sister.  I spoke with her on the phone about a month ago, and she mentioned she was making these cookies.

Apparently there is a bakery in Saint George, Utah that is well known for there cookies.  This is an imitation of their recipe.  I have never been to the bakery, so I don't know if they are a good imitation.

Lamb Shepherd's Pie

At Christmas, my family chooses different countries as the inspiration for our Christmas Eve celebration.  We have had a Spanish Christmas, a Newfoundland Christmas, a Mexican Christmas, a Ukrainian Christmas, and a French Christmas, among other countries.

Last Christmas we celebrated an Australian Christmas.  This lamb shepherd pie was the main dish.  We also add a dessert called lush, pavlova,  and an Australian bread called damper.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew

I made this beef stew over last Christmas vacation.  It was probably one of only a few things I ate last Christmas that wasn't sugar filled and had some nutritional benefit.

I can hardly believe it is already April.  This year is going to go by fast.  Yesterday I went to Philadelphia.  We went to Eastern State Penitentiary, among other things.

Brussels Sprout Salad with Bacon, Pecans, and Raisins

It's Friday! Fortunately, I don't work today.  I had an alternative work schedule and have every other Friday off.

I think I am going to go see an new exhibit at an art museum and see the movie Ready Player One. I read the book a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

Pumpkin Bread with Chocolate Chips

This isn't the type of recipe that one usually makes in the start of spring.  Pumpkin recipes are usually made in fall.

I actually made this recipe in fall, but then I forgot my camera at home over the Christmas holidays.  I just got it back a couple of weeks ago when I saw my parents in Mexico.

Caramelized Brussel Sprouts with Apples and Pecans

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend.  Brussel sprouts are my favorite vegetable.  I think they are so yummy.

I have made and posted several Brussel spout recipes.  Last May I made honey sriracha roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon.  Over a year ago I made butternut squash, Brussels sprouts, apple, and sausage salad with blue cheese, cranberries, and pecans.
