It's starting to feel like Spring around here, and I couldn't be more excited. Instead of snowing, it's raining. I don't mind rain. I grew up in a desert, so I think any kind of precipitation is beautiful.
For me, cookies are a major comfort food. When I was growing up, my family had a tradition of making cookies on Sundays after church. It might not have been the healthiest of tradition, but it was just once a week.
The recipe came from Martha Stewart. She made her cookie in a skillet. I didn’t because I don’t own an oven safe skillet. I used a pie pan, which worked well.
I cooked it 10 minutes longer then recommended, and I think that’s because I didn’t use a skillet. I added candy and pretzels to make it a little more decadent.
I combined the butter and sugars and stirred. The recipe doesn’t ask for an electric mixer, which is ideal for me. I didn’t have to stir for several minutes to make the butter and sugar fluffy or creamy. The butter was a little too soft.
The pie pan was smaller in diameter than the skillet, so at the dough was too gooey after 18 minutes. I like an under baked cookie, but it was more raw than under baked.
A good cookie recipe can only be improved with an additional cup of chocolate.
